On September 15th, ORCA was pleased to bring a very informative presentation called ‘Understanding the Dementia Journey’ to the Ridge Center. 

 

175 residents heard Candy Lee, RN & Program Manager from Life Care Memory Partners explain both the disease itself and the services they provide to educate and empower caregivers.  She also shared information about resources, care and support available for patients throughout the disease’s full progression.  Her lively style helped all of us better understand a difficult topic with great clarity. 

 

Life Care Memory Partners is part of the larger organization, Lower Cape Fear Life Care, which also offers Hospice Care, Palliative Medicine, Grief Care and Community Education.  Candy was joined by three of her associates who were available to answer questions and distribute assorted print materials for residents to peruse at home. 

 

Life Care Memory Partners is one of the local non-profits that ORCA supports though fundraising. 

 

Maureen Standen was the lucky winner of the door prize – a $100 gift certificate to LeVolte restaurant – generously donated by the restaurant.
