The Ocean Ridge Charities Association Inc. (ORCA) is a non-profit, tax exempt corporation established within the community of Ocean Ridge Plantation to identify charitable needs within Brunswick County and to support them through increased fundraising and volunteer participation.

 

Founded in June 2010, the Ocean Ridge Charities Association Inc. (ORCA) is a 501(c)(3), tax exempt, non-profit corporation situated within the Ocean Ridge Plantation community in southeast Brunswick County, North Carolina.

 

As a community-wide service association, ORCA is organized for the sole and exclusive purpose of identifying and supporting those Brunswick County charities and non-profits that assist disadvantaged citizens in our area.

 

ORCA works to accomplish these tasks principally by:

• Enhancing charitable fundraising and expanding volunteer participation from among our Ocean Ridge neighbors and friends;

• Building partnerships with ongoing neighborhood initiatives while adding value, where possible, to those campaigns, and;

• Harmonize overlapping fundraising efforts within our community

 

By doing so, we believe that Ocean Ridge can more fully maximize its fundraising potential to support those in need while amplifying our community’s presence within Brunswick County. 

 

Since its charitable fundraising began in early 2011, ORCA has raised and contributed over $1.2 Million to local charities and non-profits in just ten years. The funds raised were derived from two major donation sources--Ocean Ridge residents and Corporate sponsors. local small businesses that support our work.

 

A 17 member volunteer Board of Directors from within Ocean Ridge guides the work of the association. The Directors elect their own officers, decide ORCA’s annual budget, manage its finances, direct the allocation of contributions to needy non-profits, formulate fundraising plans and strategies and participate in other governance and organizational decision-making. In addition, members of the ORCA Board serve on the Boards of directors of other Brunswick County non-profits and charities.

 

ORCA is incorporated under the laws of North Carolina and is licensed by the state (CSL #Sl008646) to solicit charitable contributions.
