Thank You For Your Generosity
Ocean Ridge Charities (ORCA) wants to thank the Ocean Ridge residents who so generously donated to our recent activities. We also thank those who volunteered their talents and time to assist and support these events. As a result, the residents of Ocean Ridge raised approximately $12,850 for the Warm Homes, Warm Hearts program. Our contribution will be doubled by Brunswick Electric and donated to Brunswick Family Assistance to help with the heating needs of many Brunswick County families.
Included in the collective contribution are earmarked donations and proceeds from the Christmas Quilt raffle, the luminaries, the Holiday Marketplace raffle, the Fall Craft Show vendor fees, and the 7th Annual Holiday Open House Tour donations.
Ocean Ridge has shared our warm homes and warm hearts to help others. It is what makes us Ocean Ridge Plantation.
Happy Holidays to everyone and thank you for your generosity.
ORCA Thank You For 2021 Holiday Activities
THANK YOU OCEAN RIDGE RESIDENTS FOR OUR MOST SUCCESSFUL HOLIDAY SEASON EVER!
ORCA RAISED $10,500 FOR BEMC and DONATED ANOTHER $20,000 to BC Charities
Ocean Ridge Charities Association (ORCA), along with the Social Activities Committee, is proud to sponsor the “Annual Kick off to the Holidays in Ocean Ridge!” The following events contribute towards these efforts: the Holiday Craft’s Fair, the Holiday Market Place, Luminaries and the Holiday House Tour. The proceeds of these events go to BEMC’s Warm Homes, Warm Hearts program, which DOUBLES our contribution to Brunswick County residents! That’s $21,000 to assist in providing heat and electric to those in need.
Due to the Corporate Sponsor Program, the generosity of our neighbors, an Allstate Grant, the memorial fund and other contributions, ORCA has donated an additional $20,000 in the name of Ocean Ridge residents to the following Brunswick County Charities this month:
Brunswick Family Assistance, Brunswick Community College Foundation, Carousel Center, Habitat, Hope Harbor, Literacy Council, Providence Home, Shallotte Lions, Toy Run and Waves4Kids.
A special THANK YOU to all our volunteers, event organizers and ORCA board members for all of the tireless work they put in to make all of this happen. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

Holiday House Tour
Giving to others is the true meaning of the Holiday Season.
ORCA along with the ORMA Social Activities Committee say “Thank you” to all who participated in the OR Holiday House Tour.
On Sunday, December 4, six Ocean Ridge residents opened their homes for the tour. Residents traveled from home to home in awe of the beautiful displays of holiday decorating, creativity and the true spirit for the meaning of the season.
The event raised money for Brunswick Electric's charity - the Warm Homes /Warm Hearts program - and the organizers of this event consider this weekend a major accomplishment for the community.
It is for that reason, we want to say: THANK YOU.
-
Thank You to the 6 homeowners - The Lauxs, Kilbridges, Stuarts, Allens, Arancios and J. Wehner - on the Ocean Ridge Holiday Tour who welcomed neighbors into their beautifully decorated homes.
-
Thank You to the 240 neighbors who supported the charity and enjoyed their neighbors' homes.
-
Thank You to the ORMA Social Activities Committee for donating $335 from the Tree Lighting Ceremony.
-
Thank You to Brunswick Electric for matching our donation so that $6370 will be donated to Brunswick Family Assistance so that others in our county will stay warm this winter.

Carolers sang, nutcrackers stood at attention, angels beamed from above, and Santas put finishing touches on Christmas gifts. Taken together, the seven homes on the Ocean Ridge Charity Association’s December 6 Holiday House Tour in Ocean Ridge presented a magical vision of Christmas where the world is peaceful and everyone is safe and snug at home by the hearth.
But, some folks in Brunswick County are not warm and comfortable in their homes. To help remedy this situation ORCA joined in partnership with Brunswick Electric’s “Warm Homes, Warm Hearts” campaign, which offers heating assistance to seniors and families in need. ORCA’s involvement was spearheaded by homeowner Joanne Bush, who organized the house tour with help from ORCA representative Judy Cunningham. They hope the tour will become an Ocean Ridge tradition.
The House Tour raised $1,800 and gave 180 guests the pleasure of viewing outstanding Christmas collections. In the true spirit of Christmas, the Ocean Ridge Activity Committee donated $325 from the tree lighting event, and the ORCA board generously added to the pot, bringing the final figure to $2,500. This amount will be matched by Brunswick Electric. Brunswick Family Assistance will have the responsibility to distribute funds to specific families for a total of $5,000.
During the tour, ORCA members greeted visitors while hosts graciously showed off their collections. Each home inspired gasps of awe and delight from guests as they entered.
Highlights of the tour:
At the home of Joanne and Richard Bush the visitor sees handmade wreaths, collections of Santas and mangers, a fly-fishing tree, beach tree and a 10-foot tree with ornaments dating back five generations;
Linda and Ed Sutton boast an astonishing collection of 70 Christmas puzzles, as well as a New England village collection and 42 Metropolitan Art Museum snowflakes—one for each year of their marriage;
Santas and elves ushered the visitor into the home of Rosemary and Richard Kilbridge where there is also a collection of dolls dating from 1965;
Lisa and Tom O’Rourke displayed over 200 Christmas Caroler figurines, a collection of angels, and an array of garlands and trees;
John Lefebvre’s home showcased a large collection of snowmen, a snow village, and an assortment of dolls and ornaments;
Shirley and Nelson Johnsons’ brightly-decorated home was full of nutcrackers, snowmen, and ornaments bought over the years for children and grandchildren ;
last but far from least was the home of John Wehner where 170 nutcrackers of every size imaginable (four inches up to five feet) competed for attention with four beautiful Christmas trees, and an incredible collection of 25 glass tree toppers in candlesticks.
