Need: Many residents of Brunswick County cannot afford basic healthcare, even with the Affordable Care Act. They need a place to come where they can obtain the care they need that they can afford.

Methods: The New Hope Clinic is a 501(c)(3) non-profit in Boiling Springs that serves Brunswick County residents. In addition to their core medical services, they offer specialty clinics for podiatry, chiropractic, dermatology, EKG, dental, diabetes treatment, medial eye care, mental health screening and a Pharmacy Assistance Program.

Results: A staff or over 140 volunteers, including doctors, dentists, FNP's, PA's, pharmacists, nurses, EMT's,  and support personnel contribute over 10,000 hours to treat over 1,200 patients each year. Our Vision is to strive to serve the health care needs of Brunswick County residents and continue to increase our healthcare services.

Personal Stories:  These have come from letters that New Hope Clinic has received from clients:

  • “New Hope Clinic is a blessing.  I have no way that I could ever get any kind of health care if it didn’t exist.”

“I have been a patient at New Hope Clinic for the past 5 ½ years.  I am not eligible for Medicare or Medicaid.  My husband died 6 years ago.  I could no longer afford insurance.  I have been seeing a nurse practitioner at the clinic for high blood pressure and high cholesterol.  That is under control thanks to the checkups and meds.

I have been blind in my left eye since I was 5 years old.  I was telling the doctor that my right eye was getting fussy.  She made an appointment with an eye doctor at the clinic.  After the checkup it was they scheduled me an appointment with a Retina Clinic. I had eye surgery last June and had follow up exams.  My sight is much better.  I wanted to thank the staff and volunteers at New Hope Clinic.  Without them I could be blind.”

  • “To New Hope Clinic and all the wonderful people who have voluntarily given so much of their time and devotion to help.  Many who were going through difficult times like myself.

In the past my husband’s job shut down and we lost our insurance.  He had to take a job for much less wages and no insurance.  With the health conditions I’ve had, my husband and I could not afford the medications I needed or the doctor bills we had.

New Hope Clinic has been a savior for us.  We can’t thank you all enough for everything you’ve done. We love you all, and will always ask God’s blessing upon you.”

  • “I am writing this letter for several reasons.  First, I would like to thank your staff and medical professionals for the wonderful treatment I received at New Hope Clinic over the past year.  I received exceptional care.  Not once, during any of my visits, did anyone brush me off.  They listened to my concerns, and then took the time to explain, in layman’s terms, all that was going on with my health.  In this day and age where people are either in a hurry, have little time, or simply do not care about others, your staff are a rare breed!  For this, I thank them from the bottom of my heart.  They are assets to their professions and to New Hope Clinic.

Second, I would like to recognize and thank all those who are “behind the scenes”. These are the people who give unselfishly to help people like me.  I feel that they should be recognized, as well as given high praise for their work and selfless contributions.  I may not know their names, but I will forever hold them in my heart.

I must also say that it was not easy for me to accept the help that New Hope Clinic provided.  I am a very proud person, and thought that I should wait to seek medical care when I was covered by insurance.  Unfortunately, due to health reasons, I could no longer wait.  I found New Hope Clinic with the help of friends and I will forever be grateful to them.

In closing, I want everyone at New Hope Clinic to know how very much I appreciate them.  Please let them know that I will never forget them, and if I ever have the opportunity to give back, I will.

Thank you all, once again, from the bottom of my heart, and know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. “
