Drawing starts promptly at 2:15 PM
Nature Pavilion

We hope you enjoyed the Ocean Ridge Charities Association (ORCA) Annual Arts & Crafts Fair at the Nature Pavilion last weekend. Our neighbors had such beautiful items for sale, with all vendor fees supporting 'Warm Homes, Warm Hearts'.
Your next chance to possibly take home some other incredible items is Saturday, December 2 at the ORCA Holiday Marketplace Raffle. It will also be held at the Nature Pavilion, rain or shine.
Our creative and talented neighbors have generously donated a wide array of spectacular crafts (woodworking, quilting, painting and so much more)… along with baked goods, gift cards, themed baskets, etc. We will be raffling off dozens of gorgeous items. Again all proceeds will go to 'Warm Homes, Warm Hearts'.
Here's how it works. Buy your raffle tickets (10 tickets for $20) at the event, or skip the lines and purchase them early by contacting Kathy Sanchez at 203-400-5023 or Cathy Benton at 410-279-4612.
Then come to the Nature Pavilion on Saturday, December 2 between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM to see these amazing donations and use your raffle tickets to take a chance at winning the item(s) of your choice. We will begin drawing the winning tickets at 2:15 PM, including the winning ticket for the holiday quilt. You do not need to be present to win, but being there for the drawing is half the fun.
Questions? AND… still time to donate an item to the raffle!

You could win this beautiful holiday quilt!

Made and donated by Judy Cunningham, the knitted star design blends traditional quilting with a modern flair.
The red, green, white and gold colors are holiday classics. But the varying shades of green give it a modern look. And the holiday season shines through in the traditional backing.
Ocean Ridge Charities Association (ORCA) is raffling the quilt, with all proceeds benefiting 'Warm Homes, Warm Hearts'.
Tickets are $5.00 each or 6 for $20.00. Raffle tickets will be sold at the November 4th Annual Arts & Crafts Fair, at the December 2nd Holiday Marketplace Raffle (both at the Nature Pavilion) and at other various scheduled events.
The quilt winner will be drawn at the Holiday Marketplace Raffle on December 2nd. You do not need to be present to win.
You can also contact Joan Griffith at (301) 275-9948 or email jkg3k@yahoo.com ... to purchase your tickets.

THE ANNUAL ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR
Saturday, November 4, 2023
11am – 2pm
Nature Pavilion

The Ocean Ridge Charities Association (ORCA) Annual Arts & Crafts Fair was held on a sunny Saturday in November at the Nature Pavilion. Twenty two of our creative neighbors shared their talents with us. And many of us went home with new art work, baked goods, holiday decor and so much more.
ORCA also sold raffle tickets for a beautiful holiday quilt which will be raffled off on December 2 at the Holiday Marketplace Raffle. Luminaries were available and they will 'Light Up the Night' as our driveways glow with holiday cheer on the evening of Dec 2. ORCA also benefited from a very generous vendor donation of all his event proceeds!
Thank you to all who participated... crafters, lookers and buyers. Proceeds will be bundled with the monies from our other holiday events and will go to support Brunswick Electric's 'Warm Homes, Warm Hearts'.

2023 ORCA Annual Appeal:
Serving Basic Human Needs in Brunswick County
Please watch your mailbox for the 2023 Ocean Ridge Charities Association’s (ORCA) Annual Appeal: “Serving Basic Human Needs in Brunswick County”.
Historically, this is our largest internal fundraiser.
As the only 501© 3 non-profit, tax-exempt corporation established within our Ocean Ridge community, ORCA has raised over $1.3 million dollars in cash and commodities since 2010. Those dollars are funneled back into Brunswick County through charities vetted to ensure their compliance with state and local requirements. In addition, through our liaison relationships, each charity is required to clearly define their needs and then provide feedback as to “how” they used our contributions. So a financial gift through us gets to those most in need.
For this Annual Appeal, we have identified four charities that currently need our help in “Serving Basic Human Needs in Brunswick County”:
-
Brunswick County Homeless Coalition
-
South Brunswick Interchurch Council—The Lords Food Pantry
-
WARM—Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry
-
Waves4Kids
Each has identified a pressing need which is detailed in the mailing. These requests range from rental assistance for families facing rising housing costs, to Christmas Dinner Boxes, to safety grab bars for low income/elderly homeowners with urgent repair needs, to everyday supplies for children recently entering foster care.
We have made giving easy… the mailing includes a return envelop or you can use a credit card by clicking on the PayPal button below:
Together, we can have a large impact in Brunswick County. Thank you for your support!
Matthew’s Ministry Weekend Food Backpack Program:
2023
THANK YOU from the Old Dominion Dames, Ocean Ridge Charities Association & Matthew's Ministry

Our wonderful neighbors have again demonstrated their enormous generosity. You donated 109 backpacks filled with weekend food items for students in Brunswick County who receive free or reduced price school lunches during the week.
Thank you to all who donated and to those who served as neighborhood collection points.
Special thanks to Jim Ellenberger and also to Carol Wakefield's visiting grandsons (Austin and Landon) who all helped deliver the donations to four local schools.
